Le Concours de Livingston, an evening fundraiser with art, food and cars that will benefit Love In the Name of Christ of the Greater Livingston Area, runs from 4-8 p.m. July 30 at the Gronow estate in Genoa Township. Love INC pools the resources of dozens of Christian churches in the county to assist local residents with needs including food, shelter, clothing and transportation.Classic high-end antique automobiles, vintage classic wooden boats and fine art will be displayed. Highlights of a live auction include road tours with photos in classic cars, fine art from numerous area artists, consultation with Bordine's Nursery, an African safari and a private tour of The Lingenfelter Collection including dinner for two in downtown Brighton. Registration opens at 9 a.m. with tee-off at 10 a.m. Cost is $50 and includes golfing, lunch at the turn and a dinner at the Howell Eagles clubhouse, south of Interstate 96 at 141 Schroeder Park Drive in Marion Township. There will also be door prizes, raffles and a chance to win a two-year lease on a new car for a hole-in-one. Registration deadline is Monday. The race is open to all skill levels and is divided into single-paddle kayak/solo canoe; novice/youth two-person teams younger than 18; and experienced two-person teams with Kevlar or carbon boats. Canoes and kayaks will not be provided. Competitors can bring their own equipment or rent it from Heavner Canoe Rental. Male and female roles are available in every age category, dancing roles and some nonsinging roles. Auditions for the children's chorus and the role of Susan will begin at 6 p.m. Aug. 12. Auditions for all supporting roles, tap, dance and vocal ensembles will begin at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 13. A dance workshop is recommended and begins at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 10.
